The first video is my group's preliminary video. The second is the final cut of our group's film opening.
I made a Prezi to demonstrate the different steps we took in the different processes and what we had learnt in the progress:
Editing Rules
The preliminary task was a good experience because it helped us try to experiment with using basic editing and camerawork rules and techniques and utilise them in our film opening sequence, for example the 30˚ rule, 180˚ rule, shot-reverse-shot, match on action and continuity techniques.
30˚ Rule

Prelim 180˚ rule |
Film Opening Sequence 180˚ rule |
But we broke the 180˚ rule in our prelim.
At the end of the clip, Shani's character is being filmed from one side of the 180˚ line, then Kayvon's character is filmed from the same side, the shot after that we film over the line and break the rule.
The members of my group reflected on and learned from this when shooting our film openings.

Overall
Even though the two media texts that I helped produce were different, the majority of skills I gained and used in planning, production and editing made me feel more prepared for the production of our final project. This is mainly because I knew vaguely what to expect and having those skills made the whole process more easy, more fun and filled with fewer mistakes.
